Google Analytics 4: How to see traffic and billing channels
Monitoring and analysis of traffic channels and the billing they generate is essential in any marketing strategy. In Google Analytics 4 (GA4), you can get a detailed view of this data through a simple process.
Access the Report menu in your GA4 account
Select the Acquisition setting
Enter the option Traffic acquisition
Add the filter: Session source/medium
Apply the First User Source/Medium filter to identify where users started the purchase or acquisition process from. You can search for this filter using the search function.
Select a time range to analyze
Be sure to select the date range you want to analyze. You can choose a specific period to get a more accurate view of traffic channels and their impact on billing.
Once you have applied the filter and selected the date range, GA4 will display a series of data related to the traffic channels and their contribution to billing on the analyzed site:
- Traffic Source: This column presents the data of the channel that the users used to make their purchases or acquisitions.
- New User: The number of users who interacted with your site or application for the first time.
- Engaged Sessions: The number of sessions in which users were active for at least 10 seconds, had a conversion event, or viewed two or more pages on the site.
- Engagement Rate: The average between New Users and Engaged Sessions.
- Engage Session Per User: The average number of active sessions per user.
- Average Engagement Time: The average time users spent on the site or application.
- Event Count: Shows the number of events, such as "Added product", "Add to cart", "Clicks", "Thankyou page", "View product", among others.
- Conversions: The number of conversions made by users through specific channels, such as Email marketing, campaigns on Facebook, Google, etc.
- Total Revenue: The accumulated amount of conversions generated by each traffic channel.
It is possible to customize the display of the traffic channels according to the data available in GA 4. For example, the Total Revenue column can be selected with the mouse to display the ranking according to the billing generated by each channel from older to younger.
You must follow the same route and use the search engine to find the HUB channels. They are generally identified as: Webpush, Banner and Exitpopup.
