How to add a custom WhatsApp button to a newsletter

With the Icomm Editor it is possible to add a personalized WhatsApp button to your newsletters. This feature will allow you to direct your users directly to a personalized WhatsApp number, which can be very useful for promotions, inquiries or any other direct interaction with your audience.

Previous requirements

Before you start, make sure you have the WhatsApp number information in your database (profile). This is essential as you will need this number to configure the custom button.

Step by Step

Add WhatsApp button

When creating the newsletter, add and configure the button that will direct users to WhatsApp. It can be anywhere in the newsletter depending on your design and preference.

Set the button to redirect users to the correct WhatsApp number. Follow these steps:

In the button edit panel, look for the "Link" option. There, you must add the corresponding URL to redirect users to your personalized WhatsApp number.

Use the following link format to correctly configure the button: https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=<*field*>

Make sure to replace <*field*> with the name of the field that contains the WhatsApp number information in your profile database.
For example, if the field containing the WhatsApp number is called "WhatsApp Number," your link will look like this: https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=<WhatsApp Number>

If you want to use the same number for all contacts, you can simply replace <WhatsAppNumber> with the mobile number directly in the link structure, for example:

https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=5491122334455

This way you will redirect all contacts to the same number without having to modify each profile.

Custom Whatsapp Text

To customize the text you want to send in the Whatsapp message, you must replace the message after the "Text=" symbol. For example, in the following link: https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=5491158448577&text=Hello!+I want+to+receive+more+information+

In this way, the recipient will see the predefined message when they access WhatsApp: "Hello! I want to receive more information"

Note: It is important to keep in mind that to separate the words of the personalized message you must use the + sign.
