How to create a survey with Short Answer

This option allows you to add a text box to your survey for respondents to provide a written response. It is generally used to collect information, receive feedback, or understand why a user had a good or bad experience.

Setting

This question type is very simple to set up. Follow the directions:

Question: Write an open-ended question for respondents to answer in their own words. You can limit the number of characters allowed. You can also edit the format of the text with bold, italic or underline.

Add Variable: Allows you to invoke previous answers in new questions. In this way, a higher level of personalization can be achieved in the survey.

Description: Check this option if you want to add a description below the question. It is used to make clarifications, or to specify something regarding the question.

Maximum characters: You can choose between: unlimited, 140, 300 and 500 characters.

Advanced Options: See our article on Advanced Options to learn more about these features and their benefits.

Once the question is set up, click the Save Question button to add it to your survey.
