# How to negativize profiles

This function is very useful to carry out audience segmentation and prevent your shipments from entering the spam folder or being bounced by the delivery service.


# Step by Step

To make a database negative, perform the following steps on the platform when configuring a new shipment

1. In the **Profiles and Audience** tab:

* Select the database (**Regular Profile**) to which you want to send.

* Select a **Virtual Profile** that contains the contacts you want to exclude from sending.

2. Use the **Add (+)** or **Subtract (-)** tool to add or exclude contacts in the shipment

* Select the **Subtract (-)** option to make the selected virtual profile negative

In this way, the contacts that belong to the selected virtual base will be excluded.
