How to use Variable data in surveys

Variables are a special feature that will allow you to use user responses in future questions. In this way, you will be able to generate surveys and forms that are friendlier and with higher completion rates.

For example, you can ask a user for their name in a question, and then use their name to personalize their experience.

This would look something like this:

Question 1

Answer 1

Question 2

With this feature you will be able to achieve greater customization of your surveys and increase the completion rate thanks to the user experience being much more personal.

How to use variables?

Follow these steps to implement this functionality in your surveys:

Your loaded and variable survey would look something like this in your creation:

Each space where you see this: "----------" is where a variable will go, that is, the answer of some previous question.

The first question asks the user what his name is, and the second question prints the user's response, "John."

To do this, in the first question the type “Form” with “Text validation” was used.

In the second question yes, "Hello" is written and "Variable" is selected at the top.

This will bring the answer of the question that we select.

It is important to clarify that all the questions with the exception of Descriptive text have this advanced option. That is, a variable can be displayed in a descriptive text question but NOT use the result, since questions of this type do not have an answer.

Variables work for all types of questions

Here are some examples of how it would look with different formats:

Multiple Image Question:

In “Multiple Image” questions, Icomm prints the label of the selected option.

In case it is a variable of a question of type "Upload file", the name of the uploaded document will be displayed as it can be seen here:

“Multiple choice” questions will show the selected option:

Or you can even use variables in the "Farewell Screen" to fire the user in a personalized way:

As you can see, the variables make your surveys dynamic and totally personalized, with this advanced function each form will be unique.

Remember that this feature will increase your survey completion rate!
