Omnichannel Integration: How to Use the ShippingAmount Field in Offline Transactions

While the ShippingAmount field may raise questions for physical store pickup transactions, its purpose is broader and offers significant benefits.

Why is the ShippingAmount field included in the process?

Transaction Versatility: Although the primary focus may be on offline transactions with physical store pickup, the process can handle transactions from a variety of sources, including online purchases with home delivery. By including the ShippingAmount field, you ensure that you can also process transactions that involve shipping costs.

Consistency in data flow: By having a specific field for the shipping amount (ShippingAmount), a consistent and structured data flow is ensured. This is critical for automation, as systems must be able to reliably interpret and process data, regardless of the source channel.

Detailed information for analysis: The inclusion of the ShippingAmount field provides a detailed view of shipping costs in the analysis of data and statistics. This allows marketing and sales teams to gain valuable insight into the impact of shipping costs on transactions and optimize their strategies accordingly.

Easy to Adapt: In an ever-changing business environment, a flexible and adaptable solution is essential. By including the ShippingAmount field, Icomm gives users the ability to adapt to new sales strategies and offer targeted promotions, such as free shipping for a limited time or discounts on shipping costs.

How to use the ShippingAmount field in offline transactions without shipping cost?

When transactions are made at the physical point of sale and do not have any type of shipping cost involved, simply enter the value "zero" in the ShippingAmount field. Also, to maintain consistency and ensure proper processing of the transaction, it is recommended to send the PreShippingAmount field with the same amount as the TotalAmount.

For example, if a customer makes a $50 purchase at a physical store and is not charged any shipping charges, when recording this transaction, the ShippingAmount field should be set to "0" and the PreShippingAmount field should reflect the same amount as the TotalAmount, that is, $50.
