Regular, virtual profiles and viral marketing: differences and uses in Icomm

It is critical to understand the different types of profiles that can be used to effectively segment and target campaigns on the Icomm platform. Among them, the profiles Regular, Virtual and Viral Marketing stand out. In this article, we will explore these definitions and the key differences between them.

Regular Profile

Regular profiles are the main databases, also known as masterdata, where the largest amount of information about our customers is stored. These profiles contain demographic data, such as names, email addresses, geographic locations, product preferences, and any other information relevant to our business.

Virtual profiles

Virtual profiles are segmentations that are generated from a regular profile or from the behavior of contacts with shipments. For example, we can have a regular profile with the "City" field and, from that field, create different virtual profiles or segmentation of contacts by cities. This allows us to have profiles of contacts who live in Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata, Córdoba, Rosario, among other cities. As new information is entered into the regular profile, the virtual profiles will update automatically.

Viral Marketing Profile

The viral marketing profile is automatically generated on the platform. It is associated with the Forward to a friend option, found in the Schedule shipments module when setting up a new campaign. This feature allows recipients of our emails to share them with others via email. When shared, the forwarded-to email addresses are automatically saved to the viral marketing profile.

This means that viral marketing is based on the ability of users to share the content of our campaigns with their networks and contacts, which amplifies the reach of our communications and allows us to reach new audiences organically.

It is important to note that virtual profiles and viral marketing are complementary to each other. Virtual profiles help us segment our database and tailor our marketing strategies to specific audience segments. On the other hand, viral marketing allows us to harness the power of personal recommendation and word of mouth to increase the visibility of our campaigns.
