Shipments with broken parts: how to fix it?

It is possible that, at some point, the recipients of your shipments receive broken parts. This can happen for various reasons. Below we will explain the most common causes and recommendations to reduce these risks.

Block structure

One of the possible causes of broken pieces is having the wrong block structure. It is important to note that it is not recommended to have a block inside another block, inside another block. This excessive hierarchy can lead to conflicts in the display and performance of your parts. Be sure to review and correct the structure of your blocks when creating your newsletters to avoid this problem.

Images

Another important aspect to consider is the images used in your pieces. The size and weight of images may affect their display and loading in email clients. It is advisable to consult the guide for image sizes and formats suitable for creating a newsletter in the Icomm editor. You can find this information at the following link: Image sizes and formats.

In addition to the size, it is important to pay attention to the name of the images. Make sure they don't contain any spaces or special characters, as this can cause problems loading them in emails. Keep filenames simple and descriptive to avoid potential errors.

Columns

When working with columns in your pieces, it is recommended to use pixel dimensions that end in 0. For example, avoid having a 21px column and a 23px column, as this can affect the alignment and visual appearance of your pieces. By maintaining a coherent and consistent design, you will improve the appearance of your emails.

In the case of a footer, it is important to make sure that the images are all the same size. This will provide a uniform appearance and prevent visual mismatches in your piece.

Do not copy newsletter

A good practice to follow is to avoid copying and modifying previous newsletters for new shipments. Instead, save the template as a custom block and create your shipments from scratch. By doing so, you will avoid dragging possible errors or inconsistencies from previous versions.

Linkref

Also, it is essential to be careful with the linkref used in your pieces. Avoid including special characters in the linkref, as this can cause the link to not go to the corresponding URL or generate an error. Also make sure that the link does not contain blank spaces by mistake, as this can make the addressing invalid.

UTM

Finally, avoid putting UTMs in the links of the Icomm editor and check the fourth tab of "new configuration" of Google Analytics. Using UTMs and misconfiguring Google Analytics can break links and make it difficult to track your campaign metrics. Keep your link settings as clean and simple as possible to avoid problems.
